Step 9 - An inner struggle
Dear Lord,
Thank you for this day and allowing me to overcome the painful realities that surround me, and turn it around, step by step, as you lead me.
This 9th step is both a thrilling and challenging one for me. While much of it is good, I feel that I struggle with everything mentioned. As you know, Lord, writing down goals, and filling out charts is not easy for me. I'm a visual person, and these types of Biblical "assignments," if you will, sometimes frustrate me.
Also, we each have our own personal walk with you, and we grow and advance in different areas. As I have walked with you, through all my failures and shortcomings, and all your miracles and glories, I feel that some of the advice, beautiful and well-intentioned, is not necessarily for me. I never claim to be a "super Christian," and I know we all fall short. Only YOU are perfect. I will always come up short, no matter how hard I try.
Some of the things that I need to do don't feel right for me, but I will continue to walk and learn, growing and open to your Holy Spirit.
Lord, you give us the desires of our heart. You know us, inside and out. We are your creations. You love us, no matter what. I guess I have always struggled with trying to be "perfect" as a Christian, because I know that is impossible. I want to be me, the one you created, uniquely, with my own inner passions, desires and spiritual gits. Sometimes, when surrounded by only God things, it feels forced and unnatural for me.
You put me in the world, but I should not conform to the world. This is often confusing to me at times, too. Help me to understand MY place in this big, beautiful world you created, and bring me to a place of harmony with the Holy Spirit. Change what needs to be changed, show me what to do, and have your way in my soul, Lord. Keep me "me," just better. Please, bless me with your holy anointing, and bring me to a hurting world to do your work. Show me your perfect will for my life, and open the doors to let me walk through my destiny. Remove all the doubt, fear and negativity that surrounds me, and send me angels, earthly and heavenly, to help me along the journey.
