Day 9 8/30

"Being overly careful about tiny details of one virtue can't make up for complete neglect of another."
Oh my goodness, busy day in the garden. There are those tiny, little weeds that sprout up throughout the yard which I hadn't bothered to pull. Barely noticeable there growing amongst the green grass I'd always been content to just mow over them. I told myself that their stems greatly resemble the green grass blades so what did it really matter.
But kneeling this morning, steaming mug of coffee in one hand, I began to halfheartedly pick at them as I prayed and asked God if there is some area of my life that i've neglected, thinking it wasn't interfering with my spiritual growth.
Lo and behold... the tiny weed.. whose name I don't even know...so greatly ignored... has roots extending throughout the yard... under the rosebushes... behind the bougainvilla... beyond the picket fence... and right up under the very foundation of the house.
This isn't a weed that can be conquered with a squirt of mold spray but not one that will require a backhoe to remove either. Consistency, diligence, and obedience to the voice of the master Gardener will root it out in due time.
Hebrews 6:10God is not unjust; he will not forget your work and the love you have shown him as you have helped his people and continue to help them. 11We want each of you to show this same diligence to the very end, in order to make your hope sure. 12We do not want you to become lazy, but to imitate those who through faith and patience inherit what has been promised.
