I started the 14 day journey today to help deal with depression and I'm supposed to write down all my feelings. I hope this is the right place. I'm new to this. I guess I have been burdened with depression all my life, but just couldn't admit it until recently. I've always been kind of a loner and have a hard time getting close to people and sharing my feelings.
2 years ago I married a Christian woman and we were happy for a while. But, I was mired in self pity over the death of my previous wife and after 14 months we divorced. She said she was just tired. So now I am even more depressed thinking I can no longer maintain a healthy relationship. Some days are OK, others are almost debilitating. I can hardly get up and get going. I live alone and it's gets very lonely sometimes. If not for my faith and God's love I would probably be insane. On the bad days I feel far from God. I pray constantly for peace and wisdom, but feel like I'm under constant attack form the evil one. Hope this 14 day process helps.

Hello Brother Curtiss :) Yep you are in the right place.

Seek and yea shall find. Give the program your all. Fellowship with the Spirit night and day and you'll find your way out of this darkness you feel.

I'm sorry for the struggles you've gone through and are currently dealing with. Many here have struggled as well and have found hope in God through this program. It's a daily commitment to Him.

You can do this. *hug* God loves you and so do I.
*angel7* Sorrow looks back, Worry looks around, But faith looks up! Live simply, love generously, care deeply, speak kindly and trust in our Creator who loves us.

Hello Curtis, Welcome to Christianity Oasis! Well this 14 day journey shall hold many surprises for you I'm sure...but one of the things you will gain is friendship...friendship with Jesus and friendship from fellow believers. Sometimes things happen in our lives that affect us continually...such as life, love, death, etc....often the enemy will try to use this life altering moments against us to throw us into a miry pit of depression, self pity, etc....this is why we have to fight against the enemy...fight against his wiles....you can do it with Jesus help...never give up hope...there is something better...and you are on your way to finding it.

My prayers are with you.

Take care and God Bless
Do you know my Jesus? Do you know my friend? Have you heard He loves you? If not, I'd like to introduce you.

In my experience, depression tries to feed itself. You don't feel like doing anything, and the more you don't, the more you don't feel like it.

Also, depression really likes to destroy the minutes - take one more and one more and one more.

Anything that you can do that is against this lethargy is helpful. Do the dishes, call a friend, volunteer doing something - anything. Take a walk at the mall and hold doors for people. Play Christian music. Open the blinds. get sunshine on your skin.

Make index cards with favorite verses and happy thoughts. Read the index cards you made yesterday. Go to church even if you sit in the back. and then later - manage to say hi to one person and one more person. Log onto this webpage and read a study. Read another study. Post something in the chat room.

Well, I have mentioned so many things, that I may seem to imply the opposite of what I am saying - I am saying to find a babystep and take it. And then, find another babystep and take it.

Post verses around your house so you have to see them and read them.

Set yourself up to stumble out of depression.

And realize when you have been happy. A lie of the devil is to think that you are always depressed - when really, I have found that most of the functionally depressed people I have known do have some fun every week.
Hugs,
Dema
