questining my faith

Postby vahn » Sun Jan 11, 2009 6:49 pm

Hi my name is vahn, first & foremost my thanx go to God that led me to this page thru His channells Childscry & Lizzie, "been trying 4 the past month actually, to find out what was it missing in my spiritual walk, but after looking all over net- mags- E-mails and all I just got more and more confused than I started with. but finally here I am. see I was reintroduced to God via 12th step prog (alcoholic) w/10 yrs sober and He did for me what I could not do for myself, gave me more than I asked and expected and then some. seeing that miracle, I wanted more, and started reading everything I could get my hands on, have 4 different versions of the bible , my bookshelf is from floor to ceiling wallto wall now. BUT, lately (faced w/ all kinds of life turmoils) 'tho my prayer life has become every 2 mins now & @ the same time my faith is becomming weaker & weaker. it seems everything I'm reading now, everybody's too buisy trying to prove the other wrong rather than writing what's right now try to add that to the already existing confusion, was about to thro in the towel on all that literary & cyber mumbo jumbo when "something" said "try this button" so I did and here I am 4 DAYS later

Vahn, Welcome to the Oasis. So glad to have you here. You know there are times that we all sometimes falter a bit in our faith. It's not necessarily that we don't love Jesus, but as trials and tribulations come our way we wonder why us. But the one thing we know is that Jesus tells us that during trials he wants us to have peace in Him.

John 16:33 These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world.

The one thing to remember is that you will find Truth in the Bible. Man can write a lot of things, but only God's word is total Truth.

Seek Jesus, He's calling for you to come closer, and to let Him carry your burdens. As heavy as they feel, they aren't too heavy for him.

Praying for you.

Again welcome.

Take care and God Bless

Hi, Vahn. *Welcome* God led you here for a reason. We speak the Truth.

What man teaches is confusing. We get information overload. Conflicting information. Can't trust much of it, especially over the internet.

God's Word is straight up and honest. It never changes. Your faith will increase as you dive into the Word.

Romans 10:17 So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the Word of God.

God's Word is trustworthy. You trust good things? Not bad things, I hope. Well.........

Proverbs 30:5 Every word of God is pure: He is a shield unto them that put their trust in Him.

You don't have to figure out everything on your own. Listen for God's voice in everything you do and everywhere you go. Just gotta have faith in His Word and accept His will for you.

Proverbs 3:5 Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. 6 In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.

God bless you, Vahn, in your search for the Truth. Hope to meet you in chat sometime.

flute
My resolution for today, next month, and years to come is to be further from the world and closer to the Word.

As you were directed to this forum, I was directed to your post.

God does work in mysterous ways.
I to could say I have a lot of books, but I let the books find me, come to me, be recommended by others to me. If I don't like/agree with what I'm reading, I just put the book down. I have about 10 books that I switch from reading, whatever flavor I'm in the mood for the night.

Let me suggest the 14 step program that COOL has to offer, I believe that you will enjoy it, as when I started I too had lost my faith. It helped me restore my faith faster than I thought it was going to take. It has improved my life greatly and I look forward to visiting this site daily.

I'd like to share my yesterday with you:
I was going spastic, impatient, and grouchy. Just flipping out. I then realized I was doing this, and realized I had to calm down and just float so to speak.

You let out a big sigh.
You focus your energy.
You calm down.
You stay with the energy.
The energy starts to make things happen.

I've been struggling with staying with the energy. It is hard to do, you can go in and out of it. But when god makes things happen, you are being proven that the energy does exist and there is a valid reason to staying with the energy.

God bless you my friend, and welcome home!

We are alike in more ways than one.

I scrolled up to find your location is Earth (Still !!!)

I too have felt this way for many years, then it was brought to my attention, that the longer I complained, the longer I may be kept here. Oh oh, it changed my whole thinking pattern.

We will go home, when we are meant to go home.
Earth is what I consider "hell"
We come here to learn what we are supposed to learn, then we go home.
At home we review what we learned or didn't or how we handled it.
We decide to come back to earth or we stay home and advance spiritually there.

Both you and I may have been up there at home and for some insanity of a reason decided to come back down here and try it again.

Souls that feel as you and I do, I believe and would love to hope that we are on our last life.

Those that don't believe in god, those that mock him, are an auto ship back down to earth and do it again.

But you can't have a world filled with non-believers, or there would be no world left and it would just be hell.

Some of us decide to come back down here, to save another soul and get them into home. And that is how you have non-believers and believers living on the earth plane.

Granted, what I am stating above may not match the thoughts of others, but it is my belief and what I am comfortable with believing. God will show us the way one way or another.

:) You make me smile.
