Re: Still trying to recover from exposure to cult

Hi Pine,

I got back on my medicine that I was put on when I left the hospital 9 yrs. This morning was a little tough though. I have been reading a book again by Steve Hassan called "Combatting Cult Mind Control" I read last night about how people that were in cults really have two identities. The "cult" identity and then their own. Ok, will the "real" Steve please stand up! *BigGrin*

I can sure relate to what this is saying. I am constantly battling in my mind that cult leader. His voice, his words, and his face. I still think about how much damage was done to me in such a short period of time. 4-6 weeks. I never met this person face to face(I saw a pic of him online). The book also says that cults put people in trance like states so they can control them. I still struggle with this, one minute I'm there and the other I have checked out. I hate it! Renewing my mind is very important. With the Lord's help it will happen.

I read your other post and am glad to hear that the Lord is giving peace and joy in his presence.

God bless you,

Steve

A word of encouragement for those suffering. My friend showed me these verses and I read them again this morning and was encouraged. I hope someone else might be also.

Zec 3:1 Then the angel showed me Joshua the high priest standing before the angel of the LORD. The Accuser, Satan, was there at the angel's right hand, making accusations against Joshua.Zec 3:2 And the LORD said to Satan, "I, the LORD, reject your accusations, Satan. Yes, the LORD, who has chosen Jerusalem, rebukes you. This man is like a burning stick that has been snatched from the fire."Zec 3:3 Joshua's clothing was filthy as he stood there before the angel. Zec 3:4 So the angel said to the others standing there, "Take off his filthy clothes." And turning to Joshua he said, "See, I have taken away your sins, and now I am giving you these fine new clothes."Zec 3:5 Then I said, "They should also place a clean turban on his head." So they put a clean priestly turban on his head and dressed him in new clothes while the angel of the LORD stood by.

Hello Akita :)

God bless you this day.

Those are some awesome Words of God to share, dear brother in Christ. AWESOME!!!

The accuser tries it with all of us, does he not? Oh yea, that's what he does, but our Lord says "I, The Lord, reject your accusations." The Lord is our Salvation!!! Thank You Jesus!!!

God bless and keep you, Akita.
In Christ Jesus' love,
Sister Mack

I wanted to give an update on my battle...I have been back on some medicine that was prescribed to me when I went into the hospital 9 yrs. It has really helped quiet the voices and thoughts of negativity and frankly evil and despairing thoughts. I'm not sure how everyone here feels about medicine. But, for me after trying so many times to get off of medicine for my Epilepsy and depression it never worked so now I take my medicine faithfully.

I believe God can use whatever means he sees fit to heal people. Why he chooses medicine and doctors a lot of time, I cannot answer and to be honest I am through asking him why Lord, why this way and not another. I am grateful for the measure of healing he has provided through the medicine and I am happy that these doctors/scientists work so hard to come up with the right medicine to help people. It all reminds me of the blind man that was cured by Jesus with mud. I guess Jesus could have told him to just see, but he didn't.

Me taking my medicine for all my problems I now look at as me putting mud on my eyes and washing it off as my master as asked me to. It is done in faith and I am coming to the conclusion that my medicine is my healing and me taking it is an act of obedience to Jesus Christ.

Thanks for listening,

Steve *Halo*
