Step 7

Postby sandrad05 » Fri Apr 30, 2010 9:20 pm

I have read and studied this step three times now..
I have a question that needs to be answered. And I am going to just out here in hope someone can explain it to me.
I learned from my church that once you allow the Holy Spirit in you are to give your spirit first place over your soul. before the Holy Spirit the soul is in control and our spirit submits to the soul. But once we understand we are to "kill the flesh" and raise up the spirit. The soul becomes submissive to the spirit. There is a roll change. It is our spirit that overcomes the fleshly thing. But if I am reading step 7 right there is no roll change the soul controls the response of the spirit. Is this right?
It takes courage to stand in faith.

Hi sandra,

Here's my thoughts sis...it is God's Spirit within us that overcomes the fleshly things...but our spirit is different than God's spirit..our spirit reacts to what we allow into our soul...so if we allow Jesus to come into our soul and the Holy Spirit to abide there...then our spirit reacts to Him within...but say we acccidently open our soul to the enemy through a temptation of some sort...then the Holy Spirit has to step away for a bit as He won't sit around and watch us sin...and therefore our soul is showing evil and our spirit will react to that evil instead of the Holy Spirit who normally resides in our soul.

I hope I haven't confused you more sis...but that's the best I know how to explain it all.

luv ya sis
Do you know my Jesus? Do you know my friend? Have you heard He loves you? If not, I'd like to introduce you.
