Hello Holy Spirit

Postby Dora » Thu Dec 18, 2008 9:11 am

Jesus left us the comforter which I understand as to be the Holy Spirit...

John 16:7
Nevertheless I tell you the TRUTH; It is expedient for you that I go away: for if I go not away, the Comforter will not come unto you; but if I depart, I will send Him unto you.

Yet Job knew him...

Job 9:11
Lo, He goeth by me, and I see Him not: He passeth on also, but I perceive Him not.

I wonder how this can be. If maybe Jesus said these words so those that knew him would be comforted knowing they were not alone. The spirit was there all the time, just they didn't know this until Jesus left in this way? Would love insight on this.

This is the 3rd time I've tried to post this. My computer shuts off after I get it typed and ready to submit.

The study is awesome. So powerful. Very apparent someone is trying to keep me from studying this.

Hello Pine *hug*

God bless you this day.

Awesome question, Piney.

The Holy Spirit has been around from the beginning, because He is one of the three of the Trinity. Prior to Jesus death and resurrection, though, only certain people communicated one on one with God. We read of some awesome and miraculous things going on in the Old Testament, fire coming down from the sky, waters being stopped, etc -- this all by the moving of The Holy Spirit. But there was no "indwelling", those men and women of God in O.T. didn't have a constant companion deep within them.

Remember Elijah and all the miracles and the slaying of 750 false prophets in one day? He performed some awesome miracles of God that day. Yet, a few hours later he is sitting in a cave 100 miles away trembling and in fear of his life from what Jezebel messaged to him. Elijah definitely had an Holy Spirit anointing to do the things he did; however, he didn't have the indwelling, a constant Companion -- because the New Covenant "Jesus" had not been brought to the people yet. Jesus brought gifts unto men. Awwwwwww, Jesus -- blessed Saviour.

If I go a day or two and not feel like I've heard from my Lord, I get all pitiful and squirrely, yet the people in O.T. times, people like Abraham, Moses and such would go months or even years without hearing or feeling a sense of His presence.

We are so very blessed to have been chosen to live in this day and age. We have been so very blessed to be gifted the indwelling of The Holy Spirit. He truly is our Comforter, our Teacher, and our Guide. The Israelites were guided by The Holy Spirit as the cloud would hover over the tabernacle as they traveled. But we have Him deep within us. Thank You Jesus. We are now the tabernacle of The Holy Spirit.

I hope this helps, Piney. There is so much to Him, such a blessing. I can't get enough of Him.

God bless you, Pine.
Love,
Mack

Sure does Mackenaw. Thank you! *hug*

I knew he was here in the beginning, as was Jesus, and God. But not sure what the Holy Spirit had been doing up till the point of Jesus left him for us. Hanging around the Heavens, drinking coffee, and kicking back till he was needed. When the bible speaks of the spirit of God, it means the Holy Spirit, correct? So the Holy Spirit has been busy since day #1.

It's gotten me thinking though.
There wasn't an indwelling, but people could hear his voice? Or some could.

Was this like today. Some can't hear him, because they choose not to listen or believe. Or God chose the leaders to give the Holy Spirit to guide them.

Hello Pine *hug*

It has much to do with the Two Witnesses -- the two olive branches that stand before God, to do the will of God. Chosen men of God were anointed with this extra anointing, to do the will of God. There is an awesome Study here on the Two Witnesses. http://www.christianityoasis.com/EndTim ... nesses.htm

Yes, the Spirit of God is The Holy Spirit.

The people of the Old Testament did not have access to The Holy Spirit -- to kick back and talk with Him, etc.. Only a few chosen people were given a special anointing -- but it was for a specified amount of time -- determined by God, and was not the same as we have now. But when Jesus came {John 1:14 And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.} When Jesus died, was resurrected (by the power of The Holy Spirit) and then went to be with The Father, He said He would send The Holy Spirit to those who love Him and to empower them to do the work of God and to share the Good News.

I love reading the story of Samuel and king Saul and David. At one time, king Saul is now ticked and he is after David. So you have Samuel and a multitude of people gathered together praising God and they begin to prophesy. King Saul is looking for David, to kill him -- he has murder in his heart. He comes across this gathering of people praising God and prophesying, and suddenly he begins prophesying too.

Is that cool, or what?!!! Dum-di,dum -- grrrrrrrrrrrrrrr, errrrrrrrrr, gonna hunt him down and kill him. Errrrrrrrrrrrrrch!!!

Then suddenly, he can't help himself -- he's praising God and prophesying. Now that is The Holy Spirit. (see: I Samuel 19)

God thinks it, Jesus speaks it, and The Holy Spirit moves.

How is it that David prophesied of Jesus? By the Holy Spirit. How is it that anyone prophesied of Jesus or of future things, or of the End Times? By the Holy Spirit moving. God thinks it, Jesus speaks it, and The Holy Spirit moves.

Woooooohooooooo!!! You gotta love it.

God bless you, Pine.

Mack

Mack and Pine, you have given so much food for thought. Will be pondering these things for a while. How eye opening!

Thank you both.

Flute, I'm truely happy for you and anyone else who's eyes may be opening.
As for me, my eyes are going cross eyed. Everytime I've read the Trinity study, my eyes go crossed. I can't seem to connect the dots.

If the soul thinks and the spirit so moves, (per the Trinity study) how does the spirit take way the leadership of the soul and lead in a different direction?

Hello Timothy *hug*

God bless you this day. :)

I think I know what you are asking. If our mind/soul is what our spirit believes and our flesh as well -- but if The Holy Spirit is teaching us through our spirit -- how does His message get to our soul??? Maybe???

If that is your question, the following, I pray, helps.

My spirit is also where my spiritual self is too. Our inner man. Once we become Born Again and then start walking with God, we do all the "real" walking with our Spiritual self -- the child within, the inner man. Our spirit child has a direct line to The Holy Spirit -- he/she knows The Father, Jesus and The Holy Spirit -- knows His voice. Our spirit self, has spiritual ears. Our soul, is in tune with The Holy Spirit by our spirit connection -- like a portal, like a wave.

(Oh cool -- remember in the days of CB radios (Citizen's Band Radio) and people would say things like "Breaker, breaker, put your ears on." LOL Anyway, it required that you had a CB radio to talk back and forth, Plus, you had to turn it on. Well, we have a Christ band radio -- and we can hear Him and talk with Him, but we have to turn it on -- get in Spirit, let the inner man/woman out.).

Scripture tells us that when Christ returns, all eyes will see Him. The will hear Him too. The Truth will be revealed to ALL. Unfortunately, for many, it will be too late, because they refused Him too long.

Born Again Christians who are seeking Him with their whole hearts/spirits hear Him loud and clear. While we've been planting His Word/Jesus within our minds, the soul learns to recognize Him too. :) Sometimes we choose, in our minds, to doubt -- was that really Him, or just a random thought? :-(

I hope I've assisted in answering that question, if indeed that was the question. :)

Holy Spirit is very powerful. He is sanctifying our souls, as we type.

God bless you, Timothy and Everyone.
Love,
Mack

Thank you Mackenaw :) *Hug9*

That sounds kinda like the way I understand it.
But, so... How many spirits are in us?

I thought that once we accepted Jesus,
baptized or born again, that the Holy Spirit
dwelled within us. We submitt our selves
to the will of God through the Holy Spirit who leads us.

Isn't the Holy Spirit that tells me to send that $5.00 into Oasis?
Isn't the Holy Spirit that tells me to donate a bag of groceries to the local food pantry?
Isn't it the Holy Spirit that leads me in prayer for my Oasis family?
Isn't it the Holy spirit that tells me to get off the computer and go hug my wife? ( Oh, no, that one was Pine, never mind.) ;)

What am I missing?

Thanks,
Timothy

Hello Timothy *hug*

God bless you.

Each of us (every human being) has his or her own spirit, and that spirit remains with us until we die, and then it goes back to God.

Every Born Again Christian also has The Holy Spirit indwelling inside of us. The Holy Spirit is the Spirit of God, not ours. But, we sure do benefit from The Holy Spirit indwelling us. Woooooohooooooo!

There is a huge spiritual realm, and lots of various spirits -- some good, some bad. Angels are spiritual beings. God is Spirit. Satan is a spirit being -- he was once known as the Angel Lucifer -- a beautiful Angel. We are surrounded by a spiritual realm that most do not even know of. As we become more aware of this realm, and communicate with The Holy Spirit, which is a spiritual conversation (spirit to Spirit) we are given spiritual understanding. The wisdom of God is given us by Spiritual means -- The Holy Spirit gives it to us on the spiritual highway. We worship God in Spirit. To be in Spirit means to be in touch with The Holy Spirit -- in His realm. How, because He leads us into the Spiritual Realm, if we submit unto Him.

Blessed fruit of The Holy Spirit comes from Him. If we do unto others as He would, without reservations, without ulterior selfish motives, Yes we then are doing by the prompting of The Holy Spirit. His will or ours -- always the question.

God bless you, Timothy.
Love,
Mack

Pine,

The hug, with an apology and a foot massage, went well.
And the dishes got done, too! *laughter*

Thanks Mackenaw.

There are times when I know the Holy Spirit takes my lead.
Its kinda like a reflex. I don't put much, if any, thought into it
at the moment. I just do it. It just happens. Also when my eyes
are opened to something wonderful and heartwarming.
(It happens often here)
As Kimberly might put it, one can feel the dance.

Ok, I'm ready to move on. My feet are tapping.
Thanks Mack! :)

Hmmm! Todays study #4 talked about a candle flicker. I've never watched for that before. I'm going to start.

Since I've started the study and began to invite the Holy Spirit to come spend time with me I feel different.

Life is more fun. But not only that I physically feel different. Like a covering just over my skin and just under.

Everything seems to be growing in beauty.

Christmas Day was so wonderful. I spent the day full of joy cause it was His birthday. And invited him to celebrate the day with me. Everything went so well. Even the dishes seemed to get done in a hurry. We had 24 people and the dishes took only a few minutes. *ohyeah*

I've enjoyed this journey. This study came at the perfect time for me. I was ready for it. :) Thank you Christianity Oasis. *hug*
