Goldie That post of sassys sure was/is a blessing. Sometimes life is so ruff it seems like there is nothing to be thankful for. Especially when we have spent so many years grumbling. I remember trying to find something good in my life and all I had was the sunshine. The sun went behind a cloud and I thought great now I have nothing. I started talking to the Lord about it and a bird flew by, landed in the garden that was still under snow and sang the most beautiful song. My eyes kept looking at the rose bushes sticking out of the snow in mid April! Winter seems to never end up here. Spring can be so depressing. When everyone else has flowers blooming ours is still asleep under a blanket of snow. We can get so caught up in looking at what we don't have we miss or nearly miss a blessing sent our way. That day I kept saying I'm thankful for birds.
Sometimes all we seem to find to be thankful for can be so small when our focus isn't on eternity. A silly kitten playing with a string or a dogs big wet kiss.
Speaking of dogs one of the daycare kids was told a dog won't kiss her till she puts peanut butter on her face.
I'm waiting for the day her mom catches her rubbing peanut butter on her face. I can just see that little girl digesting those words and wondering how it works. I bet she asked a million times why the dog won't kiss her with out peanut butter.
Even if we had nothing, no sunshine, no birds, no friends or family, we are still so blessed. Because we have the Lord, his love and mercy, and an eternity that is unbelievably awesome.
Give thanks with a grateful heart,
Give thanks to the holy one,
Give thanks because he's given,
Jesus Christ his son.
And now let the weak say I am strong
Let the poor say I am rich
Because of what the Lord has done for us
Give thanks.
