"On This Night"

Lord come to me
For in great need I am.
Far from You have I strayed,
As a sheep from the flock.
Darkness surrounds me as a cloak
Far from Your light have I gone.
Loneliness envelops my soul,
For it no longer resides in You.
On this night of rememberance,
My heart longs for You.
A night not to forget
The reason for its being.
This night You so chose,
To give Your special gift to all,
Your Son tonight did arrive.
To fill the void between heaven and earth.
He came down as but a baby,
Wrapped in clothing not fit for a King.
You gave Your only Son to all,
So all might be Your children.
Lord draw my heart back to You,
So also I might be considered Your son.
To spend eternity with You
Worshiping at Your throne.
For in great need I am.
Far from You have I strayed,
As a sheep from the flock.
Darkness surrounds me as a cloak
Far from Your light have I gone.
Loneliness envelops my soul,
For it no longer resides in You.
On this night of rememberance,
My heart longs for You.
A night not to forget
The reason for its being.
This night You so chose,
To give Your special gift to all,
Your Son tonight did arrive.
To fill the void between heaven and earth.
He came down as but a baby,
Wrapped in clothing not fit for a King.
You gave Your only Son to all,
So all might be Your children.
Lord draw my heart back to You,
So also I might be considered Your son.
To spend eternity with You
Worshiping at Your throne.
