GOLGOTHA
By Jennie Lynne

A place of death
Golgotha

A place of life
Golgotha

The road is long and torturous
Golgotha

Only one has walked on the road to
Golgotha

And rose from his temporary grave from
Golgotha

Golgotha
The road was long, hot and dusty
The people jeered and shouted for joy
Some cried and some could barely watch
But seemed to be drawn to the ugly scene before them
despite their revulsion
A few ached in their hearts at his pain
One watched His son walk that road
And tears came to His eyes.
Many spat at him, threw things at him
Yelled and screamed at him

The cross was heavy
And splinters dug into his unbelievably scarred, bleeding,
Scraped to the bone, body.
It's heavy, oh so heavy
Strength is vanishing.
He stumbles, blackness almost upon him.
Then the weight is gone.
He looks and sees someone else carrying his cross.

He sees a man forced to carry his cross.
The man, Simon, looks into His face.
Hold on
