The Manger and The Cross

Sweet, sleeping King of Heaven

Our gain...Glory's loss

Do You dream of Your throne

Or do You dream of the cross

Such tiny hands, so tender and frail

Hands of Heaven , made just for a nail

Such a beautiful brow, sweet smelling and warm

Smooth as pure silk, yet made for a thorn

Your newborn feet, tickled by hay

Were made for harsh wood , against which they'd lay

Your tiny heart beating, so loud and so clear

Was made to be broken, by the thrust of a spear

Your precious life, being born among men

Was from Your birth, being born for my sin

While we celebrate Christmas

and Your coming to earth

Let us remember the cross

as we remember

Your birth
