Praise You In This Storm

Postby SimplyBreezy » Thu Sep 10, 2009 6:16 pm

I wrote this poem for a friend of mine. The words were just placed upon my heart as if I was the one feeling the pain, instead of them. So I placed the words down on paper and wanted to share them with all of you. I pray that someone will find peace from the words, just as my friend felt once they had read it.

Sincerely,

Breezy

I call it - Praise You In This Storm-

Darkness all around.
Not a clear step to take upon the ground.
Lightening surrounds me.
Rain pours down all around, so heavy I no longer see.
Voices inside my head.
Just want to run from all the dread.
Why can't I see the answers I seek?
But instead I lay here and feel so weak.
I call out to you, please help me to see.
Here I am Father, please come to me.
My burdens are great, my heart just aches.
Why must I live with all the guilt from my mistakes?
Father, please take my hand, as I reach for Thee.
Show me the way that I need to see.
I go to my knees and cry out to Thee.
I am here, please take my pain.
Please lead me out from within the rain.
Suddenly, thunder crashes, lightening strikes, rain comes faster.
Oh please Lord, please lead me from this disaster!
There out in the dark comes a sound,
I look all around.
Listening without making a sound, trying hard to hear.
Oh please, let me no longer fear.
The clouds lighten, the thunder and lightening subside.
The rain no longer coming down so I no longer have to hide.
Off in the distance, through the clouds, shines a light, Oh, what a glorious sight.
Finally a voice is heard, that soft and gently spoken word.
"Child" and then I feel that overwhelming and loving embrace.
It places a small smile upon my face.
No more fear, thoughts are now clear.
Amazing love within is what I now feel.
My burdens are lifted as I kneel.
The healing took time, the road was long,
But I know now that You will lead me to where I belong.
No longer must I fear,
You were always near.
This storm called life will come and go, but your love for me will only grow.
I will praise You in this storm, and at the end of the journey, I know it is You, Lord, that will give the true comfort that will keep me forever warm.

Thank you, it all comes from the Lord and the love I have for Him in my heart and life. I know all the things He can do for all of us, we all just have to keep hanging onto Him no matter how difficult things get because He never brings us to anything that we can't handle as long as we have Him. He will give us the strength to overcome all things because He loves us so very much.

Sincerely,

Breezy
