It wasnt the nails that kept
Jesus on the cross,
It wasnt the scourging or the thorns
It wasnt the agony of the Calvary's hill,
or the wieght of the cross that was borne.

It wasnt the taunts or the shame that he bore,
no, it wasnt any of these things.
It was Jesus doing his father's will,
Dying, Salvation to bring!

It was the Love beyond all understanding,
it was grace offered to all mankind.
It was Peace such as the world could never give,
It was mercy, which the world could never find!

For he is the way, the truth, and the life
And he brought, with each step that he trod,
Redemption full and free to everyone
Through Jesus Christ; the Gift of God!
