Adopted Foster pup

Postby Hope » Wed Dec 10, 2014 2:20 am

I wanted to share a few thoughts i have had on my journey of fostering animals. I fostered a dog who was pregnant, HW positive, almost in heart failure, the rescue spent thousands to get this senior doggie well. It wasnt known at the time i pulled her for the rescue but she had all this including parasites, the vet recommended she have the pups prior to treatment except for heart medications. Well thank goodness she only had two pups. Both healthy,,, one thankfully was adopted to a vet and his family.. the other foster boy,,,, well he was born deaf. Sweet dog, very smart and observant. Having never worked with a deaf dog before i sought some initial training tips to help me help him be the great dog he is... sad but for a solid year he was my foster boy and NO one was interested in adopting him except for this one young girl who wanted him as a running partner but planned to crate him during the day and possibly in the evenings as well except for running. landlord wasnt thrilled this young lady wanted to get a dog either. After a lil thought i said no, as i did not see him as having a fun life being crated all the time and he is so very dependent on another dog here that he adores but he is dependent as he watches the other dog who can hear... well for a solid year i posted pictures and updates for the rescue and NO interest.. all because he is deaf.. it broke my heart. God made him and he is loved. Now i know he didn't know that he wasn't part of my family but it weighed heavy on my heart so for his first birthday i officially adopted him... i cant imagine not having him now and i think he rescued me and God sent him as an angel to help me... No pix cuz i havent figured out how to post yet :) but hopefully soon cuz he is adorable.
