Fragile


I am smothered,
in a blanket of despair.
Not one soft and warm,
with love and care.

It is so rough,
scraping the skin.
A little naked body,
so fragile, so thin.

Huddled alone,
in darkness and fear.
But it is safer to hide,
when the evil is near.

Safer to lay here,
under a blanket of pain.
When to be seen,
is to be hurt again.

A witness to more than,
she can comprehend.
Cover your eyes,
and learn to pretend.

This is my blanket,
tulips a bed of flowers.
And I am a unicorn,
with super powers.

I can jump,
jump so high.
Above the horror,
to the rainbow in the sky.

That is beautiful, Ann. I love the positive at the end. The tulip is dormant most of the time. And it needs the cold to bloom. It is buried deep. But it blooms so prettily in the spring.
