darkness encroaches
on a soul laid bare
stark
enticing
invasive

gnarled talons clutch
at the vulnerability within
cold
calculating
vicious

fear rises
stifles the remnants of hope
but I cling
desperate
beaten

I wait

Brightness explodes
with piercing force
penetrating
consuming
gentle

Love seeps in
to every hidden corner
permeating
setting free
bringing life
