If you were invited to a meeting at the White House with the President of the United States, regardless of your opinion of him or her, you would probably go. Upon entering the White House, a protocol officer would meet you and outline the proper procedures for meeting the President. Suffice it to say, it would be unacceptable to let loose with a burst of undignified familarity or negative criticism as you shook hands.

So it should come as no surprise that God's Word makes it clear that there is a protocol for entering the presence of God. Hebrews 11:6 outlines one aspect of appropriated interaction: "He who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him." God wants us to be fully devoted to Him--and He takes it personally when our hearts are filled with criticism, unbelief and doubt.

James tells us that when we ask God for wisdom, the key to His response is whether or not we are asking "in faith" (1:16). God is pleased when we approach Him with unwavering faith.

So leave your doubt at the door and follow the protocol: Approach God with a heart of faith, and He will be pleased to provide all the wisdom you need. __Joe Stowell

***************Today's Bible Reading ___ James 1:1-8*************

1 James, a bondservant of
God and of the Lord Jesus
Christ,

To the twelve tribes which
are scattered abroad:
Greetings,

2 My brethren, count it all
joy when you fall into
various trials, 3 knowing
that the testing of your faith
produces patience. 4 But let
patience have its perfect
work, that you may be
perfect and complete,
lacking nothing. 5 If any of
you lacks wisdom, let him
ask of God who gives to all
lliberally and without
reproach, and it will be
given to him. 6 But let him
ask in faith, with no
doubting, for he who doubts
is like a wave of the sea
driven and tossed by the
wind. 7 for let not that man
suppose that he will receive
anything from the Lord;

8 he is a double-minded
man, unstable in all his
ways.

God wants us to have unwavering faith. So what do we do with our
doubts? In Mark 9:17-29, we read of christ admonishing a father
of a demon-possessed boy to have faith. In anguish, the father
responds, "Lord, I believe; help my unbelief!" (v.24). The Greek
word translated "help" was used of someone sent to call out for a
physician. As we cry out for Christ's help in various life experiences,
our confidence in His trustworthiness grows. The Lord Jesus Christ
is both the object of our faith and the One whoh helps to increase it.
