Mary stood by the entrance to the empty tomb and wept in misery that her Lord had died. She longed for "the touch of the vanished hand," as Tennyson lyrically described death's cold finality, "the sound of the voice that was still."

Then Jesus appeared, In her grief, Mary's eyes deceived her, for she thought He was the gardener. But when He called her name, she knew Him immediately. She cried, "Rabboni!" which means Teacher (John 20:16).

People ask me if we'll know one anther in heaven. I believe that we will know and be known there. When Jesus received His glorified body, His followers recognized Him (John 20:10-20). And someday we too will have a glorified body (1 Cor. 15:42-49; 1 John 3:2).

"Rejoice," said Jesus to His disciples, "because your names are written in heaven" (Luke 10:20). Someday we'll hear again the voices of loved ones whose names are written in heaven__voices now still. We will hear the father who spoke our name with rough affection, the mother who called us in from play.

There's one voice, however, that I long to hear above all others--my Lord Jesus, calling my name: "David." And, like Mary, I will know Him at once. My Savior! __David Roper

***************Today's Bible Reading___John 20:11-18************

11 But Mary stood outside
by the tomb weeping, and
as she wept she stooped
down and looked into the
tomb. 12 And she saw two
angels in white sitting, one
at the head and the other at
the feet, where the body of
Jesus had lain.

13 Then they said to her,
"Woman, why are you
weeping?" She said to them,
"Because they have taken
away my Lord, and I do not
know where they have laid
Him." 14 Now when she had
said this, she turned around
and saw Jesus standing
there, and did not know that
it was Jesus.

15 Jesus said to her,
"Woman, why are you
weeping? Whom are you
seeking?"
She, supposing Him to be
the gardener, said to Him,
"Sir, if You have carried
Him away, tell me where
You have laid Him, and I
will take Him away."

16 Jesus said to her,
"Mary!" She turned and
said to Him, "Rabboni!"
(which is to say Teacher).

17 Jesus said to her,
Do not cling to Me, for I
have not yet ascended to
My Father; but go to My
brethren and say to them, 'I
am ascending to My Father
and your Father, and to My
God and your God.'"

18 Mary Magdalene came
and told the disciples that
she had seen the Lord, and
that He had spoken these
things to her.

Christ died at 3:00 p,m. (Mark 15:34), and because the Sabbath
preparation started at 6:00 p.m., Jesus was given a quick burial.
The women intended to come back for a fuller embalming after the
Sabbath (Luke 23:54-24:1). Mary Magdalene was the first to arrive
at the tomb early that Sunday morning (John 20:1). __SKT

Now this one gives me chill bumps and tears. Wooooooohoooooo! I love reading this scripture, I don't know -- I feel her desperation and then her bliss when she realizes that it's Jesus. Awesome!

I heard a wonderful teaching once on this scripture. It blessed me so. Showing the comparison between God's description of how to build the Ark of the Testimony, and the mercyseat and the two golden cherubim and the similarity with what Mary saw at the tomb. (Exodus 25:18-22) And thou shalt make two cherubims of gold, of beaten work shalt thou make them, in the two ends of the mercy seat. And make one cherub on the one end, and the other cherub on the other end: even of the mercy seat shall ye make the cherubims on the two ends thereof. And the cherubims shall stretch forth their wings on high, covering the mercy seat with their wings, and their faces shall look one to another; toward the mercy seat shall the faces of the cherubims be. And thou shalt put the mercy seat above upon the ark; and in the ark thou shalt put the testimony that I shall give thee. And there I will meet with thee, and I will commune with thee from above the mercy seat, from between the two cherubims which are upon the ark of the testimony, of all things which I will give thee in commandment unto the children of Israel.

Mary saw at the open tomb. Two Angels sitting inside the tomb, and when she turned around there was Jesus. The teaching I heard, suggested that maybe the reason she turned around was because the eyes of the two angels looked past her onto Jesus, therefore, she turned to see what they were looking at.

Wow, Jesus is the Mercy Seat. Wooooooohooooooo!

Thank you again, Cimi, for sharing this message. Awesome! I love how He puts a testimony of His blessedness in all of His children, and how they are all intertwined. God is so very Good. Thank You Jesus, thank You Holy Spirit.

Love, hugs and His blessings to you, Cimi,
Sister Mack
