~ The Words We Use ~

Hebrews 4:12-16
12 For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.
13 Neither is there any creature that is not manifest in his sight: but all things are naked and opened unto the eyes of him with whom we have to do.
14 Seeing then that we have a great high priest, that is passed into the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast our profession.
15 For we have not an high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin.
16 Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need.

"We speak of these things in words not taught by human wisdom but taught by the Spirit." 1 Corinthians 2:13 (NRSV)

Often when I write, I struggle to find the right word to express my thoughts. A dictionary can help, but I find that a thesaurus is especially useful because it groups words of similar meaning. The thesaurus helps me find the word that most closely says what I want to convey and allows me to move on with my writing.

Sometimes we face struggles in our lives or the lives of others, and we find ourselves looking for what to do or say. At these times, the Bible is a valuable resource that will guide us. The more familiar we become with the Bible, the more quickly we can find words that will inspire us and others with God's love and lead us to the right course of action - whether in word or deed. Often the Book of Psalms or Jesus' words in The Upper Room often guide us to scripture passages that present the exact words we need for the struggles we or others are facing.

Prayer: Dear God, help us replace negative words and thoughts with your words of hope, joy, and peace that we can find in scripture. Amen

Prayer Focus of Day: Those who need the Right Words from Me.
