1 Peter 1:13-16
Wherefore gird up the loins of your mind, be sober, and hope to the end for the grace that is to be brought unto you at the revelation of Jesus Christ;
14 As obedient children, not fashioning yourselves according to the former lusts in your ignorance:
15 But as he which hath called you is holy, so be ye holy in all manner of conversation;
16 Because it is written, Be ye holy; for I am holy.

Paul Wrote, "Be imitators of me, as I am of Christ." 1 Corinthians 11:1 (NRSV)

My six-year-old daughter, Jessica, came home from school smiling. She clumping onto me and said gleefully, "Daddy, Daddy, I met a man today who asked me whether I'm your daughter. When I said, 'yes', he smiled and said that I looked like you."

"Is that the reason you are happy?" I asked her.

"Yes," she replied, "I'm always happy when people tell me that I look like you." I was happy when my daughter expressed joy because she resembles me.

Jessica's behavior reminded me of what God wants from us. I realized that as a child of God, I am meant to resemble my maker and to show God's attributes so that others will see them. So are we all. If we do that, others will be drawn to God's family because of seeing Christ in us.

Prayer: Dear God, help us to exhibit your divine attributes so that others will see and glorify you. As Jesus taught us, we pray, "Our Father which art in Heaven, Hallowed be thy name, Thy kingdom come. They will be done on earth, as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. Ad forgive us our debts as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen."*
*Matthew 6:9-13 (KJV)

Prayer Focus of Day: Children of absent fathers

Thought for the Day: As we strive to reflect God's nature, others will see God's love in us.
