According to a career-building Web site, certain words should be avoided on the job. when someone in authority asks you to do a project, you shouldn't say, "Sure, no problem," if you don't mean it and aren't going to follow through. Otherwise, you'll become known as someone who doesn't keep his word. And don't say, "That's not my job," because you may need that person's help in the future.

And if your boss comes to you with a problem, careerbuilder.com suggests it's best not to blame someone else and say, "It's not my fault!"

That's the excuse Adam and Eve gave to God. they were told not to eat from the fruit of the tree of knowledge of good and evil (Gen. 2:16-17). When they disobeyed and were confronted by God, Adam blamed God and Eve, and Eve blamed the serpent (3:9-19). They basically said, "It's not my fault!"

Perhaps there are things we should avoid saying to God about what He's told us to do or not to do. For example, He gives us specific instructions for Christlike behavior in 1 Corinthians 13, yet we may be tempted to say, "I just don't feel convicted about that," or "That's not really my gift."

What is the Lord asking of you today? How will you respond? How about, "Yes, Lord!" __Anne Cetas

The highest motive for obeying God
is the desire to please Him.

****************Today's Bible Reading __ Genesis 3:9-19**********

9 Then the LORD God called
to Adam and said to him,
"Where are you?"

10 So he said, "I heard Your
voice in the garden, and I
was afraid because I was
naked; and I hid myself."

11 And He said, "Who told
you that you were naked?
Have you eaten from the tree
of which I commanded you
that you should not eat?"

12 Then the man said, "The
woman whom You gave to
be with me, she gave me of
the tree, and I ate."

13 And the LORD God said
to the woman, "What is this
you have done?" The woman
said, "The serpent deceived
me, and I ate."

14 So the LORD God said to
the serpent: "Because you
have done this, you are
cursed more than all cattle,
and more than every beast of
the field.... 15 And I will
put enmity between you and
the woman, and between
your seed and her Seed; He
shall bruise your head, and
you shall bruise His heel."

16 To the woman He said:
"I will greatly multiply your
sorrow and your conception;
in pain you shall bring forth
children; your desire shall be
for your husband, and he
shall rule over you."

17 Then to Adam He said,
"Because you have heeded
the voice of your wife, and
have eaten from the tree...
cursed is the ground for your
sake; in toil you shall eat of it
all the days of your life....

19 In the sweat of your face
you shall eat bread till you
return to the ground, for out
of it you were taken; for dust
you are, and to dust you shall
return."

Tragically, Adam's response to the consequences of his own
disobedience was to distance himself from the only Person in
the universe who could fix what he had broken. He hid from the
Creator who came seeking Adam's fellowship--even after ther man's
catastrophic act of rebellion. __bill Crowder
