i quite agree sis. i found that these words from our Lord in 1 corin 13 have always brought me back to what is important and set me right again. i love that first line, "Love never gives up." the whole purpose that God wanted us to read that was because He knew there were going to be days, situations and seasons in our life when this giving up seems the only option, the only "back-door" of escape ... but God gives us better advice than our own hearts would tell us, He says LOVE is your only option.

Love never gives up.
Love cares more for others than for self.
Love doesn't want what it doesn't have.
Love doesn't strut,
Doesn't have a swelled head,
Doesn't force itself on others,
Isn't always "me first,"
Doesn't fly off the handle,
Doesn't keep score of the sins of others,
Doesn't revel when others grovel,
Takes pleasure in the flowering of truth,
Puts up with anything,
Trusts God always,
Always looks for the best,
Never looks back,
But keeps going to the end.

I love the chapter of 1 corinthians 13.

God showed me when my children where little this is how I was to treat my family if indeed I loved them.

Was much needed since I had no idea of what love really looked like. I think many in todays world are where I was. It is always so pleasant to find someone who understands love.

I'm thinking if God showed us in 1 corinthians 13 what love is and God is love then he's a master of all those things in that verse.

the most awesome thing about this type of love is.....

If He asks us to love this way..If He is instructing us about this type of love..it IS the LOVE He has for us! woohooo!!! *band*

Amen Momof3!

I've been going through 1 corinth 13. Taking each attribute of love and applying to God.

God is patient.
God is kind.
God does not envy.
God does not boast.
God is not proud.
God is not rude.
God is not self seeking.
God is not easily angered
God keeps no record of wrongs.
God does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth.
God always protects
God always trusts.
God always hopes.
God always perseveres.
God never fails. He never stops loving us. :)

God is soooo good. *run*

Love is not a place,
to come and go as we please,
is a house we enter in,
and than commit to never leave,
so lock the door behind you, throw away the key,
we'll work it out together,
let it bring us to our knees

Love is a shelter in a raging storm;
Love is a peace in a middle of a war,
and if we try to leave may God send angels to guard the door.
No, love is not a fight, but is something worth fighting for.

To some love is a word that they can fall into,
but when they're falling out,
keeping their word is hard to do

Love is a shelter in a raging storm;
Love is peace in a middle of a war,
but if we try to leave may God send angels to guard the door.
No, love is not a fight,
but is something worth fighting for.

Love will come to save us,
if we'll only call,

he will ask nothing from us,
but demand we'll give our all.

Love is a shelter in a raging storm;
Love is a peace in a middle of a war,
and if we try to leave may God send angels to guard the door.
No, love is not a fight,
but is something worth fighting for.
I will fight for you!

Would you fight for me?

It's worth fighting for.

didn't Jesus demonstrate all of these qualities while living here on earth, but especially in going to His execution. we could take a few lessons from Him in the process of dying to self ... "execution" of self ... so to speak. the Bible never records Him saying, "but they are not treating me fairly" or "they are not making me happy" ... no, you never heard Jesus complain ... He just obeyed His father's plan and trust that He was with Him.

what do you do in your marriage when conflict comes ... do you "fight for your right" (whether you are right or not) or do you yield? and if you yield, how do you get there; as its not natural for us to do so in the flesh ...

what are some methods that you or the Lord uses to get you where you need to be both emotionally and spiritually? .... or better asked: How do you fight FOR your spouse ... not WITH them ... in the throes of battle?

Kitty. I think you just struck pay dirt on that last sentence. I believe many people, I would venture to say more men than women, think what they are experiencing is eros when it is actually lust. When the roller coaster crashes to the ground they can't figure out what went wrong and often times blame someone or something else for the disaster when really it was the attempt to have intimacy, without the God factor being where it should be. Thank you Kitty. You're one smart cookie. ;)
