It is definitely worth our time to find out more about where we will be spending Eternity and how to maintain our focus on the Spiritual Promise! As we sojourn down this Christian Walk. Many Christians tend to lose sight of why they became a Christian.

The Promise of Heaven Bible Study Tidbit of Truth ... The path to Heaven can sometimes feel like the highway to hell. The Christian Walk can oft times become very overwhelming. Life seems to become too busy and chaotic. The trials and tribulations become too overwhelming. Not to mention we have this invisible enemy of our soul who seeks to have us stumble at every turn ...

1 Peter 5:8

Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour ...

During all this ... It is very easy to lose focus and to lose sight of the finish line.

Reward in Heaven Bible Verse

Matthew 5:12

Rejoice, and be exceeding glad: for great is your reward in Heaven ...

The end of this race is Eternal Life in Heaven. One would imagine that it would be difficult to lose sight of such an awesome promise, but we all know that it can become kinda difficult at times and we become blinded by the day to day worldly problems that we encounter. We can all agree on this. We must see this as a race and choose to keep our eyes on the prize.

1 Corinthians 9:24

Know ye not that they which run in a race run all, but one receiveth the prize? So run, that ye may obtain.

Isn't it easier to run a race when you can see the end in sight? However ... It's hard to stay focused on the finish line, when we are knee deep in trials and tribulation, isn't it? If we are going to Heaven, why do we have to feel like we go through hell to get there? What is the purpose of so many trials? How can we keep our hope going in the midst of it all?

This Eternal Life Bible study program will bring the prize at the end of this Christian Walk, into visible expression. So, that we may obtain patience as to finish the race.

Hebrews 12:1

Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us ...

The Promise of Heaven Bible Study Vow
Reward in Heaven Bible Verse Explained

This voyage will be a Spiritual reminder of why we endure the trials and tribulations and why we want to continue to endure and overcome them.

Let's talk a little about these trials and tribulations, shall we?

Trials and tribulations are something that every person experiences through the course of their lifetime. If you are unable to understand why we are subject to these trials and tribulations, you may find yourself placing the blame on God.

Did you know that as Christians, we are to expect trials and tribulation?

That we must experience them ...

Acts 14:22

Confirming the souls of the disciples, and exhorting them to continue in the faith, and that we must, through much tribulation, enter into the Kingdom of God.

We are to be patient and endure these trials and tribulations.

Romans 12:12

Rejoicing in hope; patient in tribulation; continuing instant in prayer ...

As these repeated trials and tribulations establish patience.

Romans 5:3

And not only so, but we glory in tribulations also: knowing that tribulation worketh patience.

Many believe they are all alone during these trials and tribulations and are the only ones which endure such things ...

But Peter shares this with us:

1 Peter 4:12-13

12 Beloved, think it not strange concerning the fiery trial which is to try you, as though some strange thing happened unto you:
13 But rejoice, inasmuch as ye are partakers of Christ's sufferings; that, when his glory shall be revealed, ye may be glad also with exceeding joy.

The Bible reveals that these trials and tribulations are for our benefit.

Ephesians 3:13

Wherefore I desire that ye faint not at my tribulations for you, which is your glory.

As well as bring up fellow Christians when they see that you can endure and overcome the trials and tribulations thru Jesus ...

2 Thessalonians 1:4

So that we ourselves glory in you in the churches of God for your patience and faith in all your persecutions and tribulations that ye endure ...

But why are we to endure these trials and tribulations?

1 Peter 1:7

That the trial of your faith, being much more precious than of gold that perisheth, though it be tried with fire, might be found unto praise and honour and glory at the appearing of Jesus Christ ...

It is a trial (test) of our Faith.

One thing that we should always remember is that God may do whatever He wants with us, His children, and indeed there are times when our trials and tribulations may be allowed by God or even God's will, but most of the time, we bring these trials and tribulations about all by ourselves or others that we have given authority in and/or over our lives.

The first thing that everyone should understand is the difference between fate and destiny. Fate is the result of choices that we make, but Destiny is irresistible.

Destiny is your destination ... Destiny is what is destined to happen to you. It's what is going to be the final result. It has been predetermined beforehand.

Fate, on the other hand, is the result of the different directions that we take by our own free will on the road to our destiny.

The next thing that we should understand is free will.

Heaven Help Us

Life isn't a puppet show, with everything we say, do, and think, all written out by God before it actually happens. What would be the point?

God gave us all free will ... Which is the choice to do what we "will" or wish. We even have the choice to go to Heaven or Hell.

The Promise of Heaven Bible Study Warning
Reward in Heaven Bible Verse Concern

Now, one may say if our life is predestined, how does one say that we have free will or Choice. God knows what you are going to choose because He is God, but you are the one allowed to make choices which is why Destiny will occur. God got a sneak preview and knows what your destiny is. Perhaps this is done so that God will be able to show this person that they did get to choose when they are standing at Judgment asking ... Why God?

Keep in mind that God gave us the Bible and sends men and women with His Word to help guide us to make the right choices, but in the end ... It is us that will make every choice. The choice to or not to surrender our SELF and let Him lead us ... Is a choice. Even making no choice is a choice. Because you chose not to make a choice.

This is called free will. See this study to learn more:

Did you know that God even gave the Angels free will?

Sooooooo, what about these Angels?

They are spiritual (they have no flesh) and Heaven was their home. They are ministering Spirits and are supposed to assist humans who are destined to be saved.

Hebrews 1:13-14

13 But to which of the Angels said he at any time, Sit on my right hand, until I make thine enemies thy footstool?
14 Are they not all ministering spirits, sent forth to minister for them who shall be heirs of salvation?

God's intent was that they would remain pure and righteous.

When God created mankind (Adam and Eve) they were created in His image. They were intended to remain pure and righteous, and death couldn't have taken hold of them. But, a not so funny thing happened on the way to Heaven. Through their free will (by eating from the tree of knowledge of good and evil), Original Sin took hold of them. See the study below to learn more:

It was because of this choice ... That Sin entered man. And a twist of fate occurred on the way to destiny.

Genesis 3:17-19

17 And unto Adam he said, Because thou hast hearkened unto the voice of thy wife, and hast eaten of the tree, of which I commanded thee, saying, Thou shalt not eat of it: cursed is the ground for thy sake; in sorrow shalt thou eat of it all the days of thy life;
18 Thorns also and thistles shall it bring forth to thee; and thou shalt eat the herb of the field;
19 In the sweat of thy face shalt thou eat bread, till thou return unto the ground; for out of it wast thou taken: for dust thou art, and unto dust shalt thou return.

Now, let's look at the free will choices of some of the Angels ...

Some of the Angels decided (with their own free will) to leave their Heavenly home as to cohabitate with the daughters of men on Earth. In other words, they chose to go and live with and have children with human women.

Genesis 6:1-7

1 And it came to pass, when men began to multiply on the face of the earth, and daughters were born unto them,
2 That the sons of God [Angels] saw the daughters of men that they were fair; and they took them wives of all which they chose.
3 And the Lord said, My spirit shall not always strive with man, for that he also is flesh: yet his days shall be an hundred and twenty years.
4 There were giants in the earth in those days; and also after that, when the sons of God [Angels] came in unto the daughters of men, and they bare children to them, the same became mighty men which were of old, men of renown.
5 And God saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every imagination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually.
6 And it repented the Lord that he had made man on the earth, and it grieved him at his heart.
7 And the Lord said, I will destroy man whom I have created from the face of the earth; both man, and beast, and the creeping thing, and the fowls of the air; for it repenteth me that I have made them.

Think God did not feel hurt by their choice to leave Him and Heaven for human women?

So we ask ... Why does God allow us to endure trials and tribulation? Maybe ... It is a test. Maybe ... God doesn't want another bunch of fallen Angels. Maybe ... The trials and tribulations that we face and how we deal with them ... Prove ourselves to God, as to what kind of Angels we will be for Him.

Tests of the Promise of Heaven Bible Study
Reward in Heaven Bible Verse Trials

Angel Audition

If your Angels treated you the way the fallen Angels treated God, wouldn't you put your prospective Angels through vigorous testing as to assure what the last group of angels had done ... Never happens again?

What is the test and trial factor?

Have you ever read the Book of Job?

Let me show you something interesting before we talk about Job. In Heaven, the Angels report to God about the things that go on down here on Earth:

Matthew 18:10

Take heed that ye despise not one of these little ones; for I say unto you, That in Heaven their Angels do always behold the face of my Father which is in Heaven.

We see that these angels report to God on our part, but there are also fallen angels that report against us.

Revelation 12:10

And I heard a loud voice saying in Heaven, Now is come salvation, and strength, and the Kingdom of our God, and the power of His Christ: for the accuser of our brethren is cast down, which accused them before our God day and night.

Don't think for a moment that these angels that are against us don't eagerly await every chance that they can get to tattle on anyone they can. In fact, many times they lure mankind into doing things and then run up and tell God what we are doing.

Now, Job was a man who had everything going for him. Well, Satan saw this and in his jealousy and wickedness, he stood in line with the other angels and when it was his turn, asked God if he could mess with Job, to prove to God that Job would curse God to His face.

Job 1:6-12

6 Now there was a day when the sons of God came to present themselves before the Lord, and Satan came also among them.
7 And the Lord said unto Satan, Whence comest thou? Then Satan answered the Lord, and said, From going to and fro in the earth, and from walking up and down in it.
8 And the Lord said unto Satan, Hast thou considered my servant Job, that there is none like him in the earth, a perfect and an upright man, one that feareth God, and escheweth evil?
9 Then Satan answered the Lord, and said, Doth Job fear God for nought?
10 Hast not thou made an hedge about him, and about his house, and about all that he hath on every side? thou hast blessed the work of his hands, and his substance is increased in the land.
11 But put forth thine hand now, and touch all that he hath, and he will curse thee to thy face.
12 And the Lord said unto Satan, Behold, all that he hath is in thy power; only upon himself put not forth thine hand. So Satan went forth from the presence of the Lord.

Now, to make a long story short, Satan was allowed to take everything away from Job, including his children, all he owned, even his health.

What was Job's response?

Naked came I out of my mother's womb, and naked shall I return thither: the Lord gave, and the Lord hath taken away; blessed be the name of the Lord.

Never once did Job curse God as was expected by the enemy of our soul. Of course Job wondered why these things happened to him, but in the end, he overcame because he had Faith.

Hope in God

Because of Job's humility and Hope, the Lord rewarded him with more blessings than he had at the beginning!

An interesting thing to notice about all of this, is that you can obviously bring about trial and tribulation into your life by making the wrong choices with your own free will ... However, you can also bring about trial and tribulation by being good ... Like Job.

If you find that hard to accept, and you're continually wondering why trials and tribulation keeps finding you when you are trying so very desperately to be good, just consider that your life is really your Angel audition, and the test and trial factor is just one means by which God chooses His Angels.

I'd like to bring your attention to the test and trial that Abraham endured in which God tempted Abraham.

Genesis 22:1

And it came to pass after these things, that God did tempt Abraham, and said unto him, Abraham: and he said, Behold, here I am.

Abraham was tested by God when He told him to sacrifice his son Isaac for a burnt offering to the Lord. The Lord led Abraham all the way to the point where he was holding the knife above Isaac, ready to plunge it into the heart of his beloved son, before God stopped him.

Question: What kind of father would be willing to kill his son?
Answer: Abraham - To prove his love for God.

What did God do because Abraham loved God enough to sacrifice his son for Him?

Genesis 22:16-18

16 And said, By myself have I sworn, saith the Lord, for because thou hast done this thing, and hast not withheld thy son, thine only son:
17 That in blessing I will bless thee, and in multiplying I will multiply thy seed as the stars of the heaven, and as the sand which is upon the sea shore; and thy seed shall possess the gate of his enemies;
18 And in thy seed shall all the nations of the earth be blessed; because thou hast obeyed my voice.

The Promise of Heaven Bible Study Path
Reward in Heaven Bible Verse And Heroes

When you think about this ... It breaks your heart to think of the anguish that Abraham went through. But, I know another Father who actually did sacrifice His Son.

God went all the way through with the sacrifice of Jesus.

Have you ever thought of the anguish God went through when Jesus was suffering and was killed? And ... He did this for us. Are our own trials and tribulations starting to pale in comparison?

Heavenly Heroes

Can you think of even one hero of the Bible who didn't go through some kind of trial and tribulation? These trials and tribulations have been experienced by many of those who chose to follow God ...

Hebrews 11:36-38

36 And others had trial of cruel mockings and scourgings, yea, moreover of bonds and imprisonment:
37 They were stoned, they were sawn asunder, were tempted, were slain with the sword: they wandered about in sheepskins and goatskins; being destitute, afflicted, tormented;
38 (Of whom the world was not worthy:) they wandered in deserts, and in mountains, and in dens and caves of the earth.

Even Paul endured many trials and tribulations ...

2 Corinthians 11:24-27

24 Of the Jews five times received I forty stripes save one.
25 Thrice was I beaten with rods, once was I stoned, thrice I suffered shipwreck, a night and a day I have been in the deep;
26 In journeyings often, in perils of waters, in perils of robbers, in perils by mine own countrymen, in perils by the heathen, in perils in the city, in perils in the wilderness, in perils in the sea, in perils among false brethren;
27 In weariness and painfulness, in watchings often, in hunger and thirst, in fastings often, in cold and nakedness.

One may ask why would even Paul who served the Lord so diligently, endure these things ... Jesus already answered this question:

Acts 9:15-16

15 But the Lord said unto him, Go thy way: for he is a chosen vessel unto me, to bear my name before the Gentiles, and kings, and the children of Israel:
16 For I will shew him how great things he must suffer for my name's sake.

Jesus told us of many who would be overcome with these tribulations. Here is something Jesus shared with us called the Parable of the Sower:

Matthew 13:19-23

19 When any one heareth the Word of the Kingdom, and understandeth it not, then cometh the wicked one, and catcheth away that which was sown in his heart. This is he which received seed by the way side.
20 But he that received the seed into stony places, the same is he that heareth the word, and anon with joy receiveth it;
21 Yet hath he not root in himself, but dureth for a while: for when tribulation or persecution ariseth because of the word, by and by he is offended.
22 He also that received seed among the thorns is he that heareth the word; and the care of this world, and the deceitfulness of riches, choke the word, and he becometh unfruitful.
23 But he that received seed into the good ground is he that heareth the word, and understandeth it; which also beareth fruit, and bringeth forth, some an hundredfold, some sixty, some thirty.

The Promise of Heaven Bible Study on Tribulations
Awaiting Reward in Heaven Bible Verse

We are being refined by these trials and tribulations ...

Zechariah 13:8-9

8 And it shall come to pass, that in all the land, saith the Lord, two parts therein shall be cut off and die; but the third shall be left therein.
9 And I will bring the third part through the fire, and will refine them as silver is refined, and will try them as gold is tried: they shall call on my name, and I will hear them: I will say, It is my people: and they shall say, The Lord is my God.

So now that we know that we are to expect, endure and overcome these trials and tribulations ... How do we overcome these trials and tribulations properly as they slowly work our patience? The answer is ... Turn to God!

Deuteronomy 4:29-31

29 But if from thence thou shalt seek the Lord thy God, thou shalt find him, if thou seek him with all thy heart and with all thy soul.
30 When thou art in tribulation, and all these things are come upon thee, even in the latter days, if thou turn to the Lord thy God, and shalt be obedient unto his voice;
31 (For the Lord thy God is a merciful God;) he will not forsake thee, neither destroy thee, nor forget the covenant of thy fathers which he sware unto them.

It is God who sees us thru these trials and tribulation:

2 Corinthians 1:3-4

3 Blessed be God, even the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies, and the God of all comfort;
4 Who comforteth us in all our tribulation, that we may be able to comfort them which are in any trouble, by the comfort wherewith we ourselves are comforted of God.

So, the next time you are caught up in these Trials and tribulations ... Turn away from the trials and tribulations and turn to God. And remember the Words of our Lord:

John 16:33

These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world.

In conclusion to all of this, you can see that as Christians we must strive to stop thinking like the world has taught us to think. When you face trials and tribulation, it seems like such a horrible thing.

Friends, you have to get a new perspective on things. Many of these trials and tribulation are tests of our soul and are occurring as to determine if we are going to trade up God when things get rough or if we are lured away. We must learn to be patient and not focus on the problems but rather keep our eyes on Jesus.

Matthew 14:29-30

29 And He said, Come. And when Peter was come down out of the ship, he walked on the water, to go to Jesus.
30 But when he saw the wind boisterous, he was afraid; and beginning to sink, he cried, saying, Lord, save me.

Peter did walk on water when he kept His eyes on Jesus but once he looked at his external conditions, he began to sink. He suddenly trusted in his senses and considered his own physical limitations. This is what most souls do when surrounded by trials and tribulation.

Let go and let God.

Give it to God. He promises that He'll carry it.

Psalms 55:22

Cast thy burden upon the LORD, and He shall sustain thee: He shall never suffer the righteous to be moved.

Get rid of the weight of the world, and get on with the business of serving God.

His burden is so much lighter.

Matthew 11:28-30

28 Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.
29 Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls.
30 For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.

The Promise of Heaven Bible Study Summary

In general, this is why children have such great Faith ... Because they don't know the burdens that the world teaches, so they travel light, and there's more room for the Holy Spirit to be their traveling companion, accompanying them through their day, instead of a big heavy old troubles.

Next time you feel tested, tempted, or tried ... Remember what James teaches:

James 1:2-3

2 My brethren, count it all joy when ye fall into divers temptations;
3 Knowing this, that the trying of your faith worketh patience.
